Goodbye Waterford, Hello Dublin!

On Thursday morning, we woke up early, finished packing, and loaded our suitcases onto the bus. We said our goodbyes to Newtown Boarding School and Waterford and started our journey up the M9 to Dublin. We got to Dublin shortly after noon and ate our packed lunches in St. Stephen’s Green. After lunch, Dan and Edel were thrilled to give the students a walking tour of Dublin to help students become familiar with the city. They shared many points of interest with everyone during the stroll. Down Kildare Street-pointing out the National Museum and Yeats' Exhibit (Along with Lemon-Taryn’s favorite crepe shop.), over to Grafton Street-pointing out many Internet Cafes, restaurants, and shops-past Molly Malone and Trinity College, up Westmoreland Street-past Carroll’s, over O’Connell Bridge and the River Liffey-pointing out O’Connell statue, up to the GPO and Spire, back over the Ha’penny Bridge and into Temple Bar-and finally-past the actual Temple Bar where Edel used to work. Sallie said Dan and Edel’s tour was fantastic. She said she was so overwhelmed, because there was so much to see and she wasn’t used to a big city. Connor said that Dan was so funny pointing out everything, but that he was also very informative. Ryan thinks that the tour will help him find his way around easier during his free time in Dublin. Skoot said he loves Dublin. Once we had gotten our bearings, it was time to go to King's Hospital-where we would call home for the next nine days. The rest of the night was spent exploring, relaxing, and settling into the new campus. The student's love how modern it is at King's Hospital and many said they are enjoying all of the other student groups around. It's completely different than Newtown Boarding School and Waterford, but in a good way, said Connor.
